In honor of his birth anniversary, EnActe honors Poet Laureate Rabindranath Tagore with a new re-imagining of his acclaimed work Chitra, based on an episode in the Mahabharata.

Theatre meets dance as Director Ranjita Chakravarty draws from Tagore’s 1895 one-act Chitra and his 1936 dance-drama Chitrangada to create the spell-binding tale of Chitra, Princess of Manipur. Born to a King promised only male heirs and raised as a male warrior, a chance meeting with Arjuna the legendary Pandava warrior invokes passion in her heart and makes her question her status in life. Witness the twists and turns in her courtship of Arjuna in this lyrical and magical English language performance that stays true to the heart of Tagore’s poetry and music.
